Benefits 

St. Mary Medical Center offers its full time/part time benefit eligible employees a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Benefits include, but are not limited to:

Medical Insurance
St. Mary Medical Center offers a comprehensive package of medical care benefits, including prescription drug coverage. The plan is a health maintenance organization (HMO) or an open access plus (OAP) administrated by CIGNA.  Employees electing coverage are required to pay a share of the premium cost.  Coverage begins on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.  CIGNA (800) 244-6224

Dental Insurance
St. Mary Medical Center offers a dental plan offered through Delta Dental. There is an annual deductible of $50 per person. Diagnostic and preventive services, along with some restorative procedures and orthodontia, are covered. Some services may require a patient fee. Employees electing coverage are required to pay a share of the premium cost. Coverage begins on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Delta Dental, (888) 335-8227.

Vision Insurance
St. Mary Medical Center offers a vision plan offered through Vision Service Plan (VSP). The plan covers eye examinations, as well as lenses and frames or contact lenses at regularly scheduled intervals. Some services may require a patient fee. Employees electing coverage in the vision plan are required to pay a share of the premium cost. Coverage begins on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

Disability Insurance
Long-term disability insurance is provided to employees at the expense of St. Mary Medical Center. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. After 180 days of continuous and total disability, the plan pays 50% of base salary to a maximum of $6,000 per month. Long-term disability payments are coordinated with certain other forms of income.

Employees may enhance their basic disability coverage by choosing a supplemental option of 60% of base pay after 90 days of disability. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. The cost of supplemental disability is paid for by the employee. MetLife, (800)638-2242.

401(k) Plan
Eligible employees may participate in a 401(k) plan that allows for a systematic method of voluntary savings through payroll deductions. Eligibility is quarterly and begins after 30 days of employment. Employees can save as much as 50% of their gross pay, up to $16,500 or $22,000 if age 50 or greater in pre-tax dollars per year, according to the Internal Revenue Tax Code. Diversified Investment Advisors, (800) 755-5801.

401(a) Plan

St. Mary Medical Center deposits a (401a) base contribution along with a 50% (401k) match of each eligible employee's 401(k) deduction (up to a maximum of 1%), based on years of service. Eligibility is quarterly and begins after one year of employment with a minimum of 1,000 hours.

For those employees who elect to have deductions put into a 401(k) plan and contribute at least 2%, the hospital's match is provided as follows:

Life Insurance
St. Mary Medical Center offers coverage under the hospital's group-term life insurance plan. Coverage for employees is effective the first day of the month after 30 days of employment. In the event of an employee's death while employed, his/her designated beneficiary will receive a benefit equal to the employee's annual base salary rounded up to the next $1,000, to a maximum benefit of $50,000. The premium cost for this coverage is fully paid by the hospital.

Employees can enhance their basic coverage by choosing from a variety of options for supplemental and dependent life insurance coverage at their own cost. MetLife, (800) 638-6420.

 

Vacation and Holidays
Vacation time and holidays are provided under a single paid time-off benefit called paid leave (PL). All employees accrue such time on a weekly/bi weekly basis. The amount of time that accrues is dependent upon the number of hours the employee works and the employee's length of service with the hospital. Employees are eligible to be paid for such time after 90 days of employment.

Paid Leave (PL)  
St. Mary Medical Center provides paid leave to employees who are unable to work for brief periods of illness, scheduled vacations, holidays and/or personal business. Employees are eligible to be paid for such time after 90 days of employment and are eligible to take paid leave as it accrues.

An employee's paid leave hours accrue based on the number of hours paid to that employee each pay period. Benefits listed below are based on 2,080 hours of employment per year:

  • 0-4 years of employment: 192 hours per year or 24 days eight hour days 
  • 5-9 years of employment: 232 hours per year or 29 days eight hour days 
  • 10+ years of employment: 272 hours per year or 34 days eight hour days 

Long-Term Illness (LTI)  
Long-term illness coverage is provided to employees at the expense of St. Mary Medical Center on an accrual basis as a supplement to State Disability when you have an illness of eight or more days in length. Employees accrue up to 57 hours of LTI a year, based on hours paid to them each pay period.

Bereavement Leave
St. Mary Medical Center provides bereavement leave to its employees after 90 days of employment. Up to three paid days may be taken in the event of a death in the immediate family.

Reimbursement Accounts/Flexible Spending
St. Mary Medical Center employees may enroll each year in reimbursement accounts for healthcare expenses and/or for dependent care expenses. Each employee funds their own accounts with pre-tax dollars through payroll deductions. Tri Ad Healthcare, (888)844-1372.

Educational Assistance  
St. Mary Medical Center employees have different programs available to them regarding 
educational benefits. Education reimbursement is an option for full time and part time employees.  On-campus education opportunities are also offered to all employees, such as BLS, ACLS, etc.

Employee Assistance Program
St. Mary Medical Center offers an employee assistance program (EAP), which is a voluntary, confidential counseling service designed to assist employees and/or their families with issues such as relationships, addictions, emotional, workplace, legal, financial, career guidance and parenting. Confidential counseling/consultation service is provided free of charge up to five free sessions per year.  United Behavioral Health (800) 234-5465.

Personal Leave
After six months of employment, employees are eligible for up to 90 days of personal leave. If eligible, an employee's personal leave may be requested up to 30-day increments. Personal leave is paid through employees' accrued Paid Leave accounts.

Gift Shop
Many discounted products and services can be obtained through St. Mary Medical Center's gift shop operated by volunteer services.  A variety of additional discounts are available throughout the year by attending volunteer services' fund-raising events.

24 Hour Fitness
Individual, couple and family memberships to 24 Hour Fitness gyms, including "sport" facilities, are available at reduced rates to SJHS/St. Mary Medical Center employees.  These facilities offer various exercise classes, cardio and weight equipment, racquetball facilities, treadmills, pools, personal trainers and much more!
