Do you offer education opportunities at SMMC?
We have ASN to BSN programs on campus. Tuition will be reimbursed 30 days after the completion of an undergraduate class with a grade of “C” or better and/or graduate course work with a grade “B” or better. Reimbursement will cover books, material and tuition. Maximum reimbursement per fiscal year is $3,000 for full-time employees and $1,500 for part-time employees.

Our current ratios are:

  • Med/Surg 1:5
  • Telemetry 1:4
  • ICU 1:2
  • ED 1:4
  • L&D 1:2
  • Post-Partum 1:4
  • Pediatrics 1:4
  • NICU 1:2
  • Recovery 1:1 through phase 1, then 1:2

Do the nurses work eight- or 12-hour shifts?
Most of the bedside nurses are on 12-hour shifts. We do offer eight-hour shifts in OR, cardiac rehab, care management, quality department, clinical education and nursing management.
