Patient Safety Patient safety is of paramount concern at St. Mary Medical Center and we have implemented a number of strategies to achieve continuous improvement in this area. Our patient safety goals officer combats safety challenges by developing safer procedures and educating our staff about these improved methods hospital-wide. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has established patient safety goals and every employee at St. Mary Medical Center is involved in meeting these goals. Employees are encouraged to report problems and be involved in the solutions. New methods for preventing the spread of infection, reconciliation of medications across the continuum of care, reducing the risk of harm from falls, and improving communication among caregivers are just some of the topics tackled daily at St. Mary Medical Center.
